AORN Member, Meridith Lewis-Cooney shares her story of appreciation & recognition.
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and had time to relax a bit more while honoring those who have served in the armed forces for our country. I enjoyed an especially meaningful Veteran’s Day celebration in a small town in the East Bay, Pleasanton, California, where I was asked to recognize one of our colleagues who is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter in Pleasanton, 92 year old Lila McAlhany, a member of the Air Force and AORN! On behalf of our chapter, AORN of The San Francisco Bay Area, I presented her with a certificate of recognition and appreciation along with a pin of our chapter and an AORN National logo gold pin, which she truly appreciated. Lila worked as a perioperative nurse for 55 years and remained dedicated to patient safety and excellence in the operating room. The slide show and stories of her life were very inspiring and I left that day feeling blessed to have met her!
