We are pleased to share the following statements from our candidates for the upcoming year. Please read more about each candidate and remember to vote between 5/31- 6/6/20. An email ballot will be sent to you.

Candidate for the position of Vice President:

Alice Erskine

Alice Erskine, MSN, RN, CNOR.

As a professional nurse educator, I have had many opportunities to share new information, review standard concepts, and offer reflections on issues pertinent to Perioperative Nurses. I would like to serve the chapter by expanding on the natural curiousity of the individual nurse and by encouraging collegiality amongst other O.R. practitioners. A few suggestions for possible education sessions: 1) A Wound-Care RN discussing protocols for treating SSI's; 2) A member of a Hospital Ethics committee discussing several ethical issues encountered by Periop RNs; 3) The Surgical Tech "Scope of Practice" - with possible speaker from a legal nurse consultant; 4) A review of O.R. Pharmacology - which meds are appropriately used in the O.R., which are not, and any possible contraindications

Candidate for the position of Treasurer:

Thomas Koehler, BSN, RN, CNOR

Thomas Koehler

It has been and honor to serve as the AORN of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter Treasurer this past term and I hope to continue serving into the next term. I have really enjoyed working alongside our excellent chapter members, modernizing our account records, and speaking about my Nursing project at one of our AORN hosted education sessions. I look forward to continuing to serve the Bay Area community, our AORN chapter, and work to improve nursing care.

Candidates for the Board of Directors:

Anne Condon

Anne Condon

I have been an AORN member for 30 years. I believe in the necessity of the association as an advocate for all operating room nurses.

Cally Rahal, BSN, RN, CNOR

Call Rahal

I have been a registered nurse going on seven years and spent almost five years in surgical services. I have worked in various settings including a trauma facility, community hospital, and a surgery center. During my time in surgical services I have continuously sought out ways to improve work flow in the operating room.
As charge nurse at a community hospital I assisted the Director of Surgery to restructure the surgical department. I led a project to adjust par levels at a surgery center to organize and create a more efficient working environment. Last year, I obtained my certification in the operating room to challenge myself and increase my knowledge in the field.
Throughout my time in the operating room I have evolved as a nurse and gained valuable skills. My passion for taking care of others pushes me to learn and grow every shift. I enjoy teaching others and helping them excel in their careers. I believe these qualities and my experience would make me a valuable asset to the Board of Directors.I look forward to this opportunity to work with you.
