Candidate for the office of President

Joy Chau, BS, RN, PHN, CNOR
John Muir Health, Walnut Creek Medical Center

I have been a member of AORN since 1987, joining AORN of Alameda County, where I served as secretary for eight years. When AORN of Alameda County disbanded in 2016, I joined AORN of San Francisco & Marin. Since then I have served in the office of corresponding secretary, president-elect, and two terms as president. I am currently serving another term as corresponding secretary. I have attended the AORN Global Surgical Conference & Expo twelve times, ten of them as a chapter delegate in the last fourteen years.

As a life-time AORN member, I am committed to AORN and to my chapter, AORN of The San Francisco Bay Area. With size of our chapter membership and geographical representation, I look forward to having our chapter meetings and events accessible to more members. I value the opportunity of networking and collaborating with our local perioperative nursing community and staying on the forefront of evidence-based perioperative practice with our education programs. Educating and mentoring our newest perioperative nurses to help foster their professional development is important as more of our colleagues retire. I vow to work with the officers and board members to make sure the future of our chapter remains sound and secure. I would be honored and privileged to serve as your chapter President.
