One Week Left to Apply for a Scholarship for First-time CNOR, CFPN, CNAMB, or CRNFA, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Recipients

AORN of The San Francisco Bay Area is pleased to offer scholarships to four active chapter members enrolled in or have completed an advanced practice degree program or are first-time CNOR, CFPN, CNAMB, or CRNFA recipients. To qualify, all applicants must demonstrate active participation in AORN of The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter #0512 over the last 12 months (June 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024), which will be determined using a point criteria system that is outlined on each application.
For the First-Time CNOR, CFPN, CNAMB, or CRNFA Certification Scholarship, the scholarship amount will be for the respective certification examination fee or CRNFA certification application fee.
The completed application packet for CNOR, CFPN, CNAMB, or CRNFA scholarships include:
- Proof of certification or receipt for exam fee or CRNFA certification application fee
- An essay, in 150 words or less, on a separate Word or PDF document that describes the value of receiving this certification
- A completed application
The Advanced Practice Degree Scholarship will be $1,000. If the applicant has completed an advanced practice degree program, it must have been completed within six months of the submission due date of September 30, 2024.
The completed application packet for an Advanced Practice Degree Scholarship includes:
- A copy of the most recent transcript
- If applicable, evidence of completion date of a program within the past six months

Two reference letters regarding your nursing practice from each of the following:
A nursing instructor/preceptor and A current professional colleague - An essay of 150 words or less on a separate Word or PDF document that describes how your advanced practice education will enhance your nursing practice in the perioperative setting. Please include specific goals and objectives for your practice in perioperative nursing
- A completed application
Each scholarship winner is expected to serve as an active member of the Education Committee in the year following receipt of their scholarship.
All applications and required documents must be submitted by September 30, 2024, to Kayla Chin and Colleen Fiammengo, Education Committee Chairs, at kchin.aorn@gmail.com and aornfiammengo@gmail.com.
The Education Committee of AORN of The San Francisco Bay Area will review all submitted applications. FOUR scholarship winners will be contacted about their winnings, followed by an announcement on the chapter's website.
